Physical activity makes you feel strong, energized, confident and most of all happy. It is a well known and much proven fact that exercise promotes brain development, improves memory and lengthens attention span. Physical activity is an integral part of the curriculum at Moor Park. Nursery and Kindergarten children have planned and sustained time for free-choice active play in their garden and out in the grounds. They have regular PE, music and movement and Woodland School sessions, which all get the children up and moving. From Reception all of the children take part in planned PE and dance lessons. Our specialist games tuition begins in Year One where our senior coaches take the children for team games skills, in preparation for matches in rugby, football, netball, hockey, rounders and cricket against other schools, in Year Three. Children in Year One and Two also swim in our indoor heated pool.
The year culminates in our much-anticipated Sports Day, where the children race competitively in a variety of traditional races and relays. Competing against ones peer’s and learning the lessons of winning and losing is a vital lesson for life.
